Blackouts Direct contacted Blush as they were in the process of launching their new venture and were looking for an agency to partner with to get their new e-commerce website off the ground.
After reviewing and optimising their website, and identifying blog topics to target, we worked with Blackouts Direct to drive both organic and paid traffic to the site, resulting in over £50k of sales in the first 18 months of trading.
Blackouts Direct is a UK-based e-commerce site selling blackout curtains, blinds, and fabric to people across the country.
Underpinned by a well-established wholesale business that is already extremely successful in the textiles space, they had had success with their products on platforms like Wayfair, but were looking to launch their own site to create a sales channel that they had full control over.
Blackouts Direct were looking for a strategic marketing partner, that was able to undertake paid marketing activities, whilst also building the organic presence and reach for their new website.
Starting with an extensive keyword research project to identify the phrases, topics and questions people were already searching for, the target keywords were carefully mapped to the site they’d already had built.
We also created a content calendar of blog topics to focus on, allowing us to build topical relevance for the site and also drive traffic at the beginning of the sales journey to the site.
Paid marketing activities were implemented alongside this, with both Google Search and Shopping campaigns implemented to target in-market customers and drive traffic to the site while the site worked its way up the organic rankings. By focusing on key selling products and optimisation of the Shopping Campaigns, we were able to see a solid increase in campaign conversions and reduction in Cost Per Acquisition.
Despite stock shortages caused by Covid-19 supply chain issues, and large competitors and high street names occupying the market, the number of visitors to the site has increased, with the business beginning to compete with large retailers in the SERPs.
