Cat Chat approached Blush as they were looking for someone to take on the management of their Google Ads Grant and to help restructure the account to make reporting easier for the Cat Chat team and trustees.
After reviewing the account Blush realised there were a few changes that could be implemented quickly to boost traffic and performance, resulting in an 116% increase in clicks while still spending the same Google Ads Grant budget.
Cat Chat is a UK charity focused on getting cats from shelters and rehoming groups into forever homes. Charitable organisations such as Cat Chat have access to support from Google for online marketing through Google for Nonprofits. Cat Chat had been running Google Ads for a number of years, but needed some help restructuring and reorganising their account which, over the years, had become unwieldy and over complicated to manage.
We started with a full review of the Google Ad Grant account to determine what changes would be required. A number of key changes were determined and a plan of action was created.
A key challenge for Cat Chat was the speed at which they were spending their Ad Grant daily budget. The advertising budget was being exhausted before 11am every day, meaning they were missing out on lots of potential customers. By restricting the cost per click on the keywords we were able to show the same ads on the same searches at a 56% lower cost per click and achieve 116% increase in clicks. The Google Ad Grant account went from 6,000 clicks per month to 13,000 clicks per month in the first 2 months that Blush were managing the account.
After shoring up the existing campaigns, we then started on the account restructure.
Working closely with the Cat Chat team, we have been able to implement a structure that the team at Blush can easily manage and the Cat Chat team can also understand when analysing performance. There were over 6,000 live ad groups before the account restructure, targeting just 176 pages. We now have 114 ad groups targeting 114 priority pages.
We've also implemented some more simple and clearer reports to help Cat Chat understand their advertising performance.
